Get someone who doesn't know the people in your page to look at it and see what questions they ask - then add that for journaling... alot of times we know what is on a page but others don't - and journal in your own handwriting - your kids or hubby will recognize it instantly. My parents handwriting means so much now. Secondly, there are so many different avenues to scrapbooking - don't go off buying embossing or stamping stuff if you can help it. Use a friends or go to a CTMH or Stamping Up party - try it out - I have so much junk that I tried once and never did again... And finally - get good tools - trimmers, scissors - spend your money there. Use a coupon and get one every month or so...whatever your budget can afford. And don't stick with 12 x 12 calendar scrapbooking - there is so much more to this stuff - it can be anything you want it to be!

To make things look 3D I use pop ups. They come in different sizes but they are like foam and they stick on both sides.

!st of all don't by everything you see pick and chose because later you'll have a bunch of stuff that you use 1-2 x's and that's it so be selective. 2nd only by paper for the project or projects your currently working on other wise you have alot that doesn't get used and just takes up space, take your pictures with you when you pick out you paper get paper that goes with the picture in some way , (color, pattern,etc...) only get the embellishments you need for the project your working on , same with ribbon or anything else. Otherwise then you start to get so much of everything you become a collecter and end up moving stuff around in order to get anything done. You may laugh but I speak from experiance. If I had done what I'm telling you to do I would have been alot better off . I use to go to a crop and spent the whole time trying to find something , because I knew I had it but didn't know where and never seemed to accomplish a whole lot of anything and just frustrated myself because of it so I got rid of all the unneccessary stuff and went back to the basics and now I can enjoy what I do again.

Hi ... I'm totally new at this and looking forward to my first project. This is excellent advice and a former Creative Memories consultant warned me about going overboard when first starting up.

Cheers!
